Opening Ceremony of Cedar Sinai Centre and Nursing Institute‏ in Toronto

Toronto, Jan 04, 2012 -The Cedar Sinai Centre houses two institutions; one being the Canadian Institute for Nurse Advancement Inc. and the Youth and Senoir Centres.

The centre helps foreign trained nurses to comply with the Canadian requirements for completing the Canadian nursing license by ugrading their studies. Such exams include qualifications for the CNRE and CPRNE and the licensing Exam Preparation for Nurses (NCLEX-RN, NCLEX-PN). The Canadian Institute for Nurse Advancement prepares the future nurses for these examination. Once the prospective licensees are granted their license to practice nursing in Canada, the centre also helps them with placement opportunities.

Cedar Sinai Centre also trains people who work with the disabled, senior citizens and children. The PSW, ODS trainees go through a formal academnic courses in class and practical hands-on training sessions at a hospital.The centre has all the facilities required to complete the training program. It gives students a broad and deep knowledge of all the parameters deemed necessary to care for the disabled, the senior and children. The certificate given at the end of the course is recognized by the Toronto District School Board and the Ministry of Health.

The community section of the Centre has a youth centre and a senior citizen centre. It helps youth in trouble with guidance and educational programs. The centre’s unique approach allows youth to study, analyse and formulate programs that cater to the problems that take them to the streets. With supervision from the capable staff at the centre, the youth will learn how to develop projects and programs that focuses on their specific needs. Our feature program and institutional slogan – Throw Away Violance, TOV- aims at giving youth the tools to climb their way back into society and become useful members.

Senior drop-in centre of Cedar Sinai Centre will give our senior citizens an engaging time at the centre. Seniors will be able to join either several clubs including entertainment club where they can leisurely enjoy a quite time playing cards, chess and similar pasttime activities.  They can also join the light exercise club where they will have the opportunity to stretch and meditate or they can be members of the bookclub. Seniors will also have the opportunity to have engaging seminars and learning opportunities. They can choose their topics of discussion and invite individuals capable of delivering seminars. They can also join the computer club where they will be introduce to the world of technology at a pace they can handle.

The centre presents a unique opportunity for the senior citizens to feel active and useful. They can volunteer at the centre in various capacities such as homework help, tutoring and mentoring the youth. They can also volunteer to help in the office and at the varuious events.

The centre also touts a tutoring and homework help centres. Children from grades 2 and up can come to these centres to meet qualified staff and volunteers who can help them with their homework and any other learning problems they may have. The centre has a number of exceptionally bright unversity and high school students who will share their experiences and who can tutor and help those who have any learning issues.
