It is reported that a powerful blast rocked the centre of Beled Weyne the provincial capital of Hiiraan region. The initial information so far received by WardheerNews states that an Ethiopian Army truck was blown to pieces after it ran over a landmine suspected to have been laid by Al Shabab forces.

Although the area of the incident which is near the main bridge was immediately cordoned off by the Ethiopian army, witnesses on the ground put nine the number of the dead Ethiopian soldiers. Reporters in the area also reported that the Ethiopian army in the immediate aftermath of the incident fired on all directions which terrorized the residents.
