Somali accused of defiling Nakuru

A Somali national accused of defiling a seven-year-old girl and seriously bruising her private parts has a case to answer, a Nakuru court has ruled. Senior resident magistrate Elizabeth Tanui told 22-year-old Abdillahi Karim Ali to prepare his defence for the same. Ali who is out in a Sh 150, 000 cash bail, was charged with committing the offence on May 22, last year, at Darul Ilmi Academy in Nakuru town. His lawyer, Ms Serling Joyce asked the court for more time to allow her prepare sworn evidence for her client.
During the hearing, a doctor who examined the girl after the ordeal said she had serious bruises in her lower abdomen and vaginal walls. ''The bruises were still fresh by the time she was brought to me,'' said Dr Samuel Onchere. The police officer investigating the case also testified adding that the defiler was well known to the complainant since she called him by his name. A witness, Safari Chea told the court that the accused called the minor from a group of girls that she was playing with and lured her to an empty classroom where he committed the crime. Ms.Tanui set the matter for hearing on February 17, 2012.
