MOGADISHU — At least two people were killed and several others injured in a suicide bomb attack at central prison in Mogadishu, the Somali capital on Friday, China’s Xinhua news agency reported.
Police said the suicide bomber blew himself up at the entrance of the central prison in Mogadishu.
Initial reports indicate there were more casualties but it’s not yet clear how many people could have been injured when the bomber blew himself up at the prison’s entrance.
Chairperson of Somali Military Court, Col. Hassan Ali Nor confirmed to Xinhua by phone the attack happened while he and other officials were about to enter a mosque inside the building of the central prison.
“We are safe now, the attack happened outside a mosque inside the building of the central prison where we often pray on Fridays. Two people, including the suicide bomber died and some others were injured,” Nor said.
No group has claimed the responsibility for the latest attack in Mogadishu.
