A Chinese woman is thought to be the world’s oldest person after celebrating her 131st birthday on June 25.

Ms Alimihan Seyiti, from China’s western Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, spent her birthday with 56 descendants as she enjoyed her favourite buns and noodles, Chinese media reports.

The Muslim woman’s health is in good condition with her blood pressure, lipids and sugar all at normal levels.

Ms Alimihan Seyiti’s ID card shows she was born on June 25, 1886 while China was still under rule of Qing Dynasty’s Guangxu Emperor, according to China News.

The pensioner celebrated her birthday with five generations of descendants on Sunday at her home in Shule County of the Kashgar region.

Her family brought her favourite grilled buns from the market and her daughter made her some noodles.

In China, long noodles are often used as a birthday gift to bless the person with longevity.

She stayed at home on her birthday as she sunbathed and chatted with her descendants.

Ms Seyiti received a body check from a local doctor a day before her birthday.

The check revealed that she has normal blood pressure, blood lipids and blood sugar levels.

The pensioner enjoyed singing love songs when she was young. She still carries on the hobby and sings after every meal, according to QQ.com.

An earlier report by People’s Daily said the pensioner also dances a lot to maintain fit. She had sung and danced for over 100 years since her teenage years.

She also eats meat only once a week to keep the diet simple.

On top of all these, she said happiness is the ultimate key to a long life.

In 2013, the Gerontological Society of China named Ms Seyiti as the country’s oldest person, according to Huanqiu.

In the same year, Carrying the Flag World Records, a London-based organisation, also recognised Ms Seyiti as 'the world’s oldest person' as shown in the above Chinese certificate
