The Norwegian government has decided to revoke the residence permit and refugee status of Somalis and send them back.

1,600 Somalis who have been granted residence permit in Norway, risk having their refugee status revoked and be sent back to Somalia.

120 Somalis have already received a notice from Immigration that the residence permit will be revoked, after the government instructed the UDI about it, NRK reports.

Among those who risk being deported there are many families with children, and unaccompanied minors.

It is the first time the authorities plan to withdraw granted residence permits for people living in Norway.

Immigration and Integration Minister Sylvi Listhaug, says that the background for the instructions given to UDI is that the situation has been calmer in Somalia.

An imam who requested anonymity, said to the Nowegian newspaper ABC Nyheter, that he would be in danger in Somalia, and Bashe Mussa in the Somali Network is shaken.

This is terrible and affects many families. Otherwise we know that security is not in place in Mogadishu, says Mussa.

Immigration and Integration Minister Sylvi Listhaug, has made headlines since she started in the job, and earlier this week she posted a message to Muslims who refuse to integrate into the Norwegian society: – Here we eat pork, drink alcohol and show our face, she wrote on Facebook.
