At approximately 2:45pm on 8th June, whilst conducting a mission to clear al-Shabaab from contested areas in Jubaland and liberate villages from al-Shabaab control, the combined Somali/Kenyan/US team came under mortar and small arms fire. This resulted in the death of one US serviceman and the wounding of five other team members. At 0500hrs on 10th June, SKA International Group received a request of the Commander Defence Forces for Somalia, to immediately assist in the resupply of essential combat
supplies to the combined force operating in Jubaland.

Within 24 hours one of SKA’s cargo aircraft was redeployed from the Middle East to Mogadishu where the supplies were loaded. The aircraft then proceeded to Kismayo International Airport where 20 tons of essential supplies were offloaded into the grateful hands of the combined force.

The local force commander said; ” This essential resupply is most welcome and we thank SKA for their rapid response; it is unlikely that any other company could have done this in time. These supplies will provide much needed support to our troops in the field and allow us to continue the fight against the al -Shabaab terrorists.”
