A Somali migrant has been sentenced to a year’s imprisonment suspended for two years after he admitted to stealing a handbag belonging to an Italian tourist early this morning.
Abdirisaq Dahir Diheye snatched the tourist’s bag in Paceville.
She went to the police station to report to incident, and while she was there the police received a report about a foreigner vandalising cars. They went to the scene, arrested the vandal and found an iphone in his possession.
They took him down to the police station and the Italian woman identified him as being the one who took her bag. She also confirmed the iphone as being her’s after unlocking it with her security code.
The accused pleaded guilty.
