Somalia MPs have made an about-turn and now say Kenya has not encroached on their territory in its construction of a security wall at the border.
In a joint house report prepared by the Foreign Relations and Interior committees, the MPs dispute that Kenya was erecting the wall on Somalia land and call for “sober” discussion on the matter.
The committees carried out an investigation on the areas of Bula-Hawo, Doolow and Elwak on the Kenya-Somalia border.
“There is no wall in the said areas but the committees noted a ditch measuring 700m by 4m wide and 1.5m deep,” the report states.
Last week, the MPs vowed to kick out Kenya Defence Forces over the wall, which Kenya wants to use to keep out al Shabaab.
