DUBAI // The Ethiopian maid who tried to kill her sponsor’s three children with a machete has reportedly confessed to the crime.
Dubai Attorney General Issam Issa Al Humaidan said she had admitted that the attack on the two girls and one boy was premeditated.
She is alleged to have poured boiling water and repeatedly stabbed the victims as they slept.
The chidren managed to run into an adjacent bathroom and lock themselves in.
The maid then took her passport and fled. But the children called the police, who arrested her.
The investigation team said the maid had acted out of revenge as she wanted to quit her job but her Emirati sponsor had refused to cancel her visa.
The children have yet to be questioned about the incident.
Two days ago, a judicial source said the maid faced charges of attempted murder and theft and may be condemned to serve a life sentence in prison.
